Stinking Rich vs Dirt Poor; What makes the difference?

In Uncategorized on January 1, 2009 by Max Soutter Tagged: , ,

Money is the root of all evil’, that’s what they believe. Yup, and the more cash you have, the more evil you are. Bill Gates may as well be Hitler – pure wickedness.

Do you believe God is pleased with vows of poverty? Have you been taught that poverty and humility are synonymous? Or maybe you imagine God gets a kick out of seeing you beg Him for daily basics? We’ll then…

God MUST Be A Cosmic Schizophrenic!

Look either He’s a psychotic split personality or He’s consistent and reliable. I mean He can’t be pleased with both poverty and riches, success and failure, abundance and lack – all at the same time. Can you imagine a father who wants some of his kids stinking rich and others dirt poor?

Only way to know for sure what He wants is to read his journal (the Bible). There you’ll find out what He says about himself and his family (every Christian).

Psa 35:27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

Read that again. Does God have pleasure in the poverty or the prosperity of his servant?

Pro 10:22 The blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich; And he addeth no sorrow therewith.

What’s that? If Gods blessings result in riches, then it must be his desire to maketh rich, wouldn’t you agree?

Actually, it’s more than just the things he says – God is constantly prospering people throughout the bible.

Abraham, Job, Solomon, David, Joseph, Jabez, Isaac, Jacob – all made rich by God. To be clear, I’m not talking about God providing necessities here, I’m talking about God making you rich.

In fact He keeps on saying throughout the old testament “Just do what I say and I’ll make you rich and I’ll make you a winner” Read Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1, Deut 28. He keeps showing us how to go about getting rich.

He says “get wisdom, it comes with wealth and honour”, Tithe and I’ll throw open the flood gates of Heaven to bless you, Be obedient and you’ll eat the good of the land – over and over again.

How serious is God about His Kids Having Money?

In the New Testament he showed just how serious He was and took care of poverty once and for all – He stripped his only son (at the time) of his Heavenly garments, sent Jesus to Earth for 33 years on a rescue mission – to preach good news to the poor. Good news to a poor man is “you can be rich!”

Then, the Bible actually says, God made Jesus poor, so that you wouldn’t have to be.

2Co 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might become rich.

Read the whole chapter – he’s not talking about spiritual riches – Paul is talking about money.

A Healthy View Of Money.

Now of course being rich doesn’t give you right to prioritize money over God. You don’t let cash become king any more than being healthy should make your body king of your life. God also warns that there are many dangers in placing money above more important things. However, that said…

Money is a good thing in good hands.

It can help the poor. It can finance the Church. Did you know it takes lots of money to print bibles, put up Christian TV Channels & build churches? The world is not going to finance that mission, we have to do it. It also takes money to look after your family, go on holiday, educate your children and basically enjoy all God wants for you as his Child.

Make up your mind today to get big for God. Jesus went through a lot for your prosperity – least you can do is accept it and enjoy it. Refuse to let the devil curse you with poverty and lack or even mediocrity.

Just keep things in the right perspective… which means honoring God with all your wealth and using it for the benefit of others as well as yourself.
